About VARKUN
VARKUN began as more than just a clothing project. It is the reflection of my own journey, passions, and experiences. My name is Matt, and I started this brand in Perth, Western Australia, to bring together two parts of my life that have always run side by side: a love for anime and Japanese storytelling, and a deep connection to streetwear and gothic style.
For nearly a decade, I worked across different industries, from medical science to security and design, while always keeping one foot in the creative world. During that time, I saw how clothing could be more than fabric. It could be identity, culture, and expression. Anime was a constant in my life, not just as entertainment but as an influence on how I understood resilience, struggle, and creativity. Streetwear, with its oversized fits, bold graphics, and underground energy, gave me the platform to turn that influence into something wearable.
VARKUN is my way of merging those influences into garments that tell stories. Every collection starts with ideas drawn from manga panels, gothic art, and the moods of late-night cityscapes.
